Service Description

Ages 16+ Friday, Oct. 23 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Minimum of 6 participants Slow down, make something beautiful, and give yourself space to reset. In this two-hour restorative art experience, participants will create a one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn mandala using a prepared geometric framework, explore simple breathing and grounding practices, and settle into an immersive sound bath with gongs, singing bowls, chimes, and other resonant instruments. No art or meditation experience is needed. The emphasis is not on artistic skill or getting anything “right,” but on enjoying the process of drawing, repetition, sound, and focused attention. This will truly be a relaxing experience and a great way to start the weekend. Participants will leave with a framed mandala of their own making and, hopefully, a little more spaciousness than they arrived with. All art materials are provided. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat and anything you need to relax comfortably during the sound portion of the evening (a pillow and blanket are encouraged). A limited number of yoga mats will be available if you don’t have one to bring. About the Instructor: Sudha McFadden is the founder of Sumac Arts, where she designs creative wellbeing experiences that bring together art, sound, attention, and reflection. Her work includes mindful art, sound-based practices, and accessible creative programming for museums, libraries, schools, nonprofits, and community organizations. Sudha is especially interested in creating experiences that help people slow down, notice more deeply, and reconnect with creativity in ways that feel welcoming rather than intimidating. She regularly leads programs in mandala art, slow looking, sound, and restorative creative practice.
