Service Description
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 7, 2025 Beginner This six-week class is an introduction to basic concepts of drawing and composition. Participants will use charcoal and pencil to explore still-life, portraiture, and perspective. This preliminary class will be an overview, a starting place for those who want to pursue the art of drawing. Materials List: - 18" x 24" drawing pad - a small package of vine charcoal - soft and medium hardness - (2) 2H drawing pencils and (2) 2B drawing pencils - gum eraser About the instructor: Carol pursued her formal training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia where she earned a four year certificate in painting in 1980. Upon returning home to Charleston, she began teaching drawing and painting at the (former) Gibbes Museum School, instructing children, teens and adults for more than 20 years. Carol's paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows over the last four decades. There is a common thread of color, line and pattern running through her work which she describes as "magic realism." Carol and her husband, Tom, relocated from Charleston to Newberry and she is excited by the opportunity to teach at the Arts Center. ***We ask that you help us keep the air we share healthy and fragrance free by not wearing perfume, cologne, aftershave, scented lotions or other fragrances while taking a class or workshop.
