Margaret "Marg" Bucher
Hello! My name is Margaret Bucher (Marg for short!), and my students just call me Mrs. B! My husband and I just moved to Newberry from Petersburg, VA, where we owned a business called Wee Little Arts. That business was based on teaching art to children of many ages, from 3 yrs old to 12 yrs. old, so I have been teaching youngsters and adults for a very long time!
I graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Purdue University, and took graduate classes at Michigan State University. In between we have lived in Delaware and Virginia where I taught preschool and elementary students, as well as private students. I am also a painter, using watercolor, oil and acrylic mediums. My work hangs in various private collections around the country, and I am a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society. I am very excited to be able to teach here in Newberry at the Newberry Art Center. Please come join me to learn more about drawing!

Karla Irby
I have been playing with fabric since I was a little girl. While my sisters played with their dolls, I was busy making them clothes from fabric scraps in our mother’s sewing room. That same playful spirit still lives in my quilts today. I love exploring the colors, textures, and designs with fabric—they spark my imagination and inspire dreams. For me, quilting is more than a craft; it’s a way to bring creativity, warmth, and comfort into the world. At Newberry Arts Center, I am proud to share my skills and be part of the creative and vibrant creative energy helping to make that spirit shine throughout our community. Helping others to see their dreams.
