Service Description

PLEASE NOTE DEADLINE TO REGISTER! SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE SKILL LEVEL: Beginner to Advanced 6-week course - Wednesdays, August 7 - September 11, from 10 am-1 pm Deadline to Register: August 1, 2024 This class allows you the freedom to learn and work with a variety of mediums. You will have the choice of exploring each one should you choose to do so. We will focus on techniques of color mixing; applications and composition. Your instructor’s goal is to set you on a path that will help you create an art project that you will personally be satisfied with. In this class, the projects will be self-initiated. That means there won’t be one set image that all students will work at reproducing. That will require some forethought on your behalf In each 6-week session, the goal is to produce 2 – 3 pieces. Depending on the complexity of the project, that may or may not happen. Everyone works at their own pace. Supply List: Oil or Acrylic o Raw Umber; o Burnt Umber; o Cobalt Blue; o Permanent Green; o Crimson Red; o Cadmium Red Medium; o Cadmium Yellow Medium; o White. Different brands name their paints differently so basically, I’m looking for a good blue, yellow, red, brown, a good green that does not lean towards the blues, you can add a purple if you want to. I try to avoid black. You can mix it. o A paint medium for either oils or acrylics if you desire. o Odorless cleaner for oil paints. o Canvases: a size that you feel comfortable with. Some prefer a larger canvas, some a small. o A variety of sized brushes Mixed Media and Combines o Same paint, canvases, and brushes as above o Adhesive (Elmer’s Glue, Craft Glue, etc.) o Mod Podge o Found objects; o Textured papers; o Dried Flora; o Beads; o strings etc. Marjorie looks forward to broadening your creativity and good conversation!! ***We ask that you help us keep the air we share healthy and fragrance-free by not wearing perfume, cologne, aftershave, scented lotions or other fragrances while taking a class or workshop. The chemicals used in scented products can make some people sick, especially those with fragrance sensitivities, asthma, allergies and other medical conditions ***
